Why Destasher?

Hi, I’m Caroline, founder of Destasher. My mum taught me to sew when I was twelve, but it wasn’t until lockdown that I truly fell in love with it.

But let’s be honest. Materials are pricey. And leftovers pile up. It often all ends up gathering dust.  Or worse, in landfill.

We all have it: the stash.

Mine’s a chaotic mountain behind my sewing machine. 

A few months ago, I was making a costume for my 7-year old and needed a meter of fake fur. Nothing I had fit the bill. I rummaged online for second hand, but no luck.

So, I called a friend whose workshop is a treasure trove of leftovers. She came through, of course. And she was delighted too — one less remnant weighing down her shelves.

That’s when the idea for Destasher was born: a go-to community where creators connect, make the most of what we already have, and get inspired.

Because this isn’t just my story. It’s ours.
