I’m Caroline from Destasher.

How did YOU get into sewing or yarn crafting?

We all have a story.

For me, the hum of sewing machines was the soundtrack of childhood. My gran taught my mum, who taught me when I was 12.

An amazing thing happens when ‘making’: you slip into this immersive state. Time disappears and every stitch, stroke, or idea seems to flow effortlessly. You know what I mean?

Welcome.

But making comes with costs. Materials aren’t cheap, and then there’s their impact on the planet. I started looking for preloved fabrics and supplies… but it’s not that easy!

Charity shops are fab if you’re lucky. Online marketplaces are huge, but vague search tools make it so tedious. Groups on social media? Great, but inconsistent and tricky to navigate.

Meanwhile, leftovers pile up. Crafting is great… but drowning in scraps? Not so much.

So, let’s join forces, share what we’ve got, and spark new ideas together.

Destasher is starting out simple, but we have big ambitions.

Jump in and explore this new online hub where sewists and yarn crafters share surplus materials & supplies and keep creativity flowing.

We thrive on community… and we’re just getting started.
