Fancy a little pre-Christmas crafting, a good rummage through some lovely fabrics, and a chance to meet other makers? We’ve got just the thing!
Saturday, 21st November, Destasher is joining forces with the fabulous Make Mee Studio for a festive afternoon of sewing material swapping and wreath making at The Catford House in South East London.
Whether you're keen to find some new-to-you supplies for your next project, fancy making your own Christmas wreath from recycled fabric, or simply want an excuse to spend an afternoon with fellow makers, come on down.
Tickets are £5 for the swap, £10 for the wreath making, £13 if you’d like to join in both!
1. The Sewing Swap
Have you got fabrics you've fallen out of love with? Patterns you'll probably never get around to making? Or haberdashery you've been keeping just in case?
Bring them along to give them the chance to find a new home… and maybe pick up something that sparks new inspiration!
How it works
It’s simple:
1. Bring along good-quality, clean fabric remnants (1 meter or more). Make sure to label it with its length and fibre content, if known. You’re aso welcome to bring sewing patterns or haberdashery items you no longer need.
2. Drop them off at our tables, and grab a drink & food at the bar!
3. Explore donations from other makers. Take what inspires you, leave what you can share, and connect with fellow sewists!
The Swap will be open from 1 to 4 P.M. Feel free to come, go, and linger as you please! Grab your ticket here.
(Even if you don’t have anything to swap, come along anyway! There just might be a fabric or pattern with your name on it…)
2. Recycled Fabric Wreath Making
The lovely team at Make Mee Studio will be hosting a recycled wreath making workshop alongside the swap. They’ll have bags and bags of festive scraps ready to use, all leftovers from their events and classes.
It's a chance to get creative with fabric and make your own wreath for the festive season, giving these materials a new purpose in the process.
Whether you're looking for a handmade addition to your Christmas decorations or simply fancy trying something a little different, this is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Workshops are on a timed entry basis between 1 and 4 P.M. Reserve your spot here!
Getting there
It all takes place at The Catford House, London SE6. There’s no dedicated car park, and on-street parking can be tricky, so public transport is easiest.
It’s a short walk from both Catford Station (mainline from Blackfriars and Victoria) and Catford Bridge Station (mainline from London Bridge), or a short bus ride away from Lewisham Station (mainline and DLR).
Any questions? Please reach out at hello@destasher.co.uk.
We can’t wait to see you there!
